MOTED (abbreviation for Motorcycle Industry Association) founded in 2003, is an sectoral association bringing together companies that import, distribute, market, or produce/assemble PTW units in Turkey, aiming to act together in and for the PTW sector in Turkey. Members of MOTED represent 15 registered brands and almost all major international brands active in Turkey. MOTED is located in Istanbul.

- To improve and develop PTW sector in Turkey
- To act as an agent, co-operating with local and central authorities, representing the
- PTW industry and society
- To be in touch with international associations, funds and programmes for betterment of
- standards of Turkish PTW sector
- To develop and implement new projects/support existing projects
- To collect sectoral data, analyze and construct infrastructural, legal, technical, environmental and financial policies for promoting safe PTW usage
- To inform public more efficiently on PTW usage
- To defend fair competition in PTW market

Co-operation between ACEM and MOTED |
|
- MOTED to be a “ACEM National Association Member” – adding up to ACEM’s knowledge-base and synergy as a EU expansion area member or EU neighbor area
- Make use of ACEM’s and member global producers and countries experiences in Turkey and transform Turkey in time to a more PTW friendly country,
- Develop and implement projects - in cooperation with Turkish state departments and local authorities - to be implemented in Turkey on fields such as Infrasctructure, Safety, Public Awareness, Traffic regulations , Education and Training and potentially recieve funding for theses projects from EU commission

Goals for PTW Sector in Turkey |
|
- To increase 2 Wheeler Units per Capita ratio from current 30 units per 1000 people to 100 units per 1000 people
Therefore;
To reduce special consumption taxations on PTW
Current situation : 22% SCT on cc < 250, 37% on cc>250
- To create ease of access to PTW, especially in comparison to Automobiles
Current situation : Minimum age : 18 (same as automobiles), No CC differentiation for licence
- To create public awareness for PTW users and safety
Current situation : Prejudice about PTW usage to be inavoidably dangerous and fatal
- To help improve road-building and maintenance standards to meet safe PTW usage requirements
Current situation : Major road quality problems adding to PTW accident rates
- To create incentives to popularize PTW usage as a vehicle such as discounted highway, bridge
tolls and parking fees
Current situation : Not advantegous compared to Automobiles
- To increase level of education for Traffic both in education system & training for drivers licence
Current situation : None or insufficient traffic education in schools and no emphasis on PTW while
acquiring drivers licence
- To act on solid & certified data while taking relevant actions
Current situation : Insuffiecient and unreliable data collection by the authorities
